Alexis 3001 Dual flush/Low Flow Toilet

So this is way off topic for this blog, but this is a great product and needs to be reviewed.

We were shopping at Sam's club and I saw they had "Alexis 3001 Dual flush/low volume toilet in a box" on the rack. I have never seen these at Sam's and they were $100 each. Have you priced such an item lately? They regularly go for $200 at your local big box hardware store or $300 at a kitchen/bathroom showroom. I jotted down the model and went to google to find some info on them. All of the reviews were excellent, not a bad one in the lot and now I know why. We have had them in for a month now and no hiccups yet. They are quieter than the ones they replaced, vintage 1963 water hogs, but that's no surprise. Low volume, yes the refill time is 8-15 secs. depending if you choose flush 1 or 2. As far as assembly goes, everything and I mean everything you need is in the box, all the screws, bolts and even a toilet seat are in the box.

The only hiccups I had on installation were 1) the flange on the drain pipe was rusted out so that needed to be fixed and 2) whoever installed the water shut off valve put it at an angle and so the connection hose that was supplied was just quite not long enough. Both of those issues are not related to the toilet though.

If you need a new throne to sit on, I give this one a hardy thumbs-up!

  1. I have been considering one of these too! I'm glad I ran across this. I have 1 question perhaps you could help me with.

What is the measurement from the back of the tank to the rim of the bowl? I'm concerned that it may be a little big for my little "closet." I would appreciate it!

  2. Hello,

The measurement from the wall to the front of the bowl is 30". There is a 1" gap between the wall and the tank.

We are really happy with them (we have 2 now). Hope this helps.

  3. It says "comfort height" seat, but doesn't give a spec. I'm wondering if it's close to 14.5" or more like 17" or so? Thanks!

  5. I have installed 2 of these and the water level in the tank is too low. Looks like the water valve/float is adjustable but can not get it to move. Has anyone encountered this, and found out how make the water lever higher? Other wise the No 1 button does not flush.

  6. I bought one yesterday and so far am impressed. As one other person observed I needed a longer water line due to my particular shut off valve configuration. Also as noted there is a one inch space between the tank and wall. Neither of these is a deal killer for me. The flush levers needed adjustment, but that is in the instructions.

  7. I am thinking of replacing my round commode--circa 1976,was installed when the house was built! Will the oval shaped Alexis 3001 fit over the orig.hole the round shaped commode sits on?

Are they all standard fit ie: measurement in inches from the wall etc.?

I,too, have been at Sam's,but the people I talked to did not seem to know or have much knowledge about the situation!

Also-so far I have not seen any cushion seats to fit on the oval shaped seat commode--are they available?

    Appreciate your reply's,thank you---

  8. Hello,

Thanks for stopping by. The distance from the wall to the center of the drain is pretty standard. Just make sure you dry fit it first and then use the wax ring once you are satisfied with the placement. As far as a cushion goes. Try wal-mart or lowes or another hardware store. I am sure they make a cushion oval seat.

    Thanks

  9. I have to say, I bought this toilet and I don't like it. To put it bluntly, the flush isn't strong enough to wash away skid marks and splatters, so you are always having to scrub it. Also, the shape of the bowl prevents proper plunging should you end up needing to do so. I also thought the seat was sort of cheap and flimsy. It is nice to have the dual flush and I haven't had any problems with the actual parts or anything.

  10. How is the finish on the porcelain???

Will I be cleaning this bargain everyday???

Or should I pay extra for one with a non stick surface???

  11. We just installed two of these in our home but are having a problem with the toilet seat not wanting to stay up (a problem when men have to use it). We pick the seat up and it starts to come down. Any solutions out there. There was no information on the paperwork.

  12. Have had for two years. Both seats cracked and home occupied 4 mo. a year. Now ghost flushing often and parts are not local. Hey it flushes good though...

  13. KEEP THE ORIGINAL PAPERS AND RECEIPT FOR THIS!!!!

We got one and its flush seal started getting bubbles in ... Which caused constant running.

No hardware nor plumbing stores carry any seals to fit..we called for warranty and company's in Canada...they stated they don't sell individual seals..and can only replace if we had original paperwork, model #, and receipt...so good until something goes wrong!

  14. I installed 3 of these in my home in 2009. I replaced the plastic seat with a solid wood one from Home Depot (under $20)the first to solve all of issues mentioned above. I'm happy with the height, comfort and solid feel and elongated bowl.
Now, "ghost" flushing has become an issue. I was out of the country for a couple of months and expected my water usage to go to 0, but found that they were wasting about 1,800 gallons a month. I found this site while Googling for replacement parts. Still have not found a site for that. Sam's has discontinued the sale of the toilet and the flush valve kit.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    1. $40.OO for two seals. May have to buy new normal toilets with locally available parts. No more toilets that require special parts.
